WWII veteran Bob Freligh joins us for a special event on the Battle of Leyte Gulf with famous author Ian Toll. Bob served as an Avenger torpedo bomber pilot in Torpedo Squadron 13 (VT-13), flying from the aircraft carrier USS Franklin, CV-13. On October 24, 1944, during the Battle of Leyte Gulf, he and his crew were shot after attacking the Japanese battleship Musashi and ditched near an island in the Philippines.
