Story:
George served with the 57th Engineers who removed 255 Landmines during WWII. Near the Laguna River George’s vehicle struck a mine killing him and five others, including one US Marine Officer. George’s body was never positively identified. He presumed dead and was buried on Guadalcanal. In 1950 remains of the burial site were exhumed and sent to Hawaii. Now George is allegedly buried in a National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN with the others. DNA from the burial site on Guadalcanal have been submitted for identification. All other close family members have passed on.
