All-Female Team Guards Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Though soldiers walked the mat from the beginning, it wasn’t until 1937 that male soldiers began a 24/7 presence at the memorial. This past week, history was made when an all-Woman changing of the guard occurred. The Guard is highly selective as fewer than 20 percent of all volunteers are accepted for training and of those only a fraction pass training to become full-fledged Tomb Guards. VBC recently highlighted the Guards on our Monday Happy Hour. You can watch the program HERE. For more information about the all-Woman changing of the guard, check out Task & Purpose.
