Two Sundays ago, during a game against the visiting Raiders, the Pittsburgh Steelers honored WWII Navy veteran Julia Parsons on the field for her working decoding Enigma messages in the North Atlantic. Watch the tribute video to Julia screened at Heinz Field before the 3rd Quarter. CBS sideline reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala noticed, “Big applause from the crowd, the refs and RB Benny Snell, who looked at the big screen in awe.” One wag suggested that maybe Julia, a still brilliant 100-year-old codebreaker, is just what the Steelers need to figure out why they’re so bad on third down.
