Stephen was stationed at various places around the world including Texas, Minnesota Vietnam, Virginia, Germany, England, New Mexico, Illinois and Louisiana and was involved in hostilities that included the Cuban Crisis, Vietnam War, Capture of the USS Pueblo by the North Koreans, and the evacuation of the American and British Embassies in Beirut, Lebanon, during their civil war.

Five Monessen High School Alumni had their names added to the School’s Wall of Fame at an induction Ceremony Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Ron is a graduate of the Monessen High School Class of 1960. Seven days after graduation, he was in Air Force boot camp at San Antonio, Texas, to start his military career of 21 years. The field chosen for him was called “Life Support Systems,” which included learning and later teaching Survival, Escape and Evasion, and Combat rescue techniques to all whose duties included flying. He was stationed at various places around the world and was involved in hostilities that included the Cuban Crisis, Vietnam War, Capture of the USS Pueblo by the North Koreans, and the evacuation of the American and British Embassies in Beirut, Lebanon, during their civil war.
While serving in England, Ron was honored with the Anglo American Award for facilitating an agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom that would allow US military members and their families to receive reduced insurance rates on their vehicles by taking a specific test that is only open to UK citizens.
Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Ron returned to Monessen, where he worked for a short time as a Production Manager for the Vocational Rehabilitation Center of Allegheny County. Ron was then offered a position with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Veterans Service representative, helping veterans get their training, necessary
Mr Chromulak is the current Commander of Thomas McKee American Legion Post 28, Monessen Pa. and Past Commander of VFW Post 1190 and DAV Chapter 131, both of Monessen Pa. He is also the Chairman of the Monessen War Veterans Memorial Trust.
