Fifteen years ago today, 16 members of the 10th Mountain Division battled for their lives at over 8,500 feet in one of the most remote parts of the world. Fifty Taliban almost overran the US reconnaissance team, which held off the attackers at the cost of four dead soldiers. One of those, Sgt. Jared D. Monti received the Medal of Honor for his actions that day. Another, John Hawes, received the Silver Star is joining us tonight to talk about Monti, the battle, and his Army service.
