On June 11, 2026, the Veterans Breakfast Club celebrated a milestone nearly two decades in the making: the opening of its first-ever brick-and-mortar home.
Located at 5850 Centre Avenue in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood, the new VBC Welcome Center gives the organization a permanent place where veterans, family members, students, and community members can gather, share stories, learn from one another, and build connections. The ribbon-cutting ceremony drew veterans from across the region along with public officials, military representatives, supporters, and community leaders, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the VBC’s history.
Among those attending were Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor, Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato, and numerous civic and military leaders who joined VBC members in celebrating the occasion. KDKA’s Larry Richert emceed the festivities, which included remarks, tours of the new facility, and opportunities for visitors to see firsthand how the space will serve veterans and the broader community.
The Welcome Center is more than an office. It is a place where anyone can stop in for conversation, coffee, information, and connection. Veterans seeking services can receive referrals and guidance. Community members can learn about military service and veteran experiences. The center will host storytelling programs, workshops, oral history projects, exhibits, and special events throughout the year.
What makes the Welcome Center especially unique is its partnership with the Phase 4 Learning Center, a school that prepares young people for careers, higher education, and military service. Students will interview veterans, learn firsthand about military service and citizenship, and help us capture and preserve stories. Veterans, in turn, will find opportunities to mentor, teach, and build relationships with a new generation.
