The Scuttlebutt | Season 8 Episode 13
Matthew Landis served in the Air Force but when he transitioned to civilian life, he lost his direction and purpose. Falling heavily into addiction and finding himself homeless, Matthew flatlined from an overdose. Having been saved by the slimmest of margins, he knew he needed to change his life.
It has not been easy but Matthew clawed his way back to life. His story of redemption is an inspirational one. Seeking holistic healing, Matthew found the Pacific Rim Trail and walked the entire length of the United States North to South not once – but twice.
Now Matthew is a fierce advocate for veterans using the great outdoors to heal trauma and find purpose. He lives in an apartment now with his loyal service dog and plans walks that will challenge his mind, body, and spirit.
