Air Force veteran Jake Barsottini shares memories of April 24, 1980, when a joint Special Operations force launched a hostage rescue attempt in Iran. The day ended with eight Americans dead, several destroyed aircraft, and an aborted mission. The failure helped to doom the Carter Administration and inspired a top-to-bottom rethinking of how Special Operations are planned and conducted. Ren Bergman also joins us to talk about his experiences as a Fleet Marine aboard command ships during the Vietnam War.
