Gene Laus entered the US Army Air Corps in July 1942 and flew aboard a C-46 as a radio operator and navigator. He flew in the China, Burma, India theater and flew a trip over the Himalayas before leaving in 1945.

Pittsburgh WWII veteran Gene Laus entered the US Army Air Corps in July 1942 and flew aboard a C-46 as a radio operator and navigator.  He served in the China-Burma-India Theater (CBI) and flew a trip over the Himalayas before leaving in 1945.

The Final Story

Gene A. “Gino” Laus Sr., 91, of Penn Hills, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Mary J. Laus; loving father of Gene A. Laus Jr. (Catherine), Sandra Heck (John), Rick Laus (Marcia), Valerie Lawrence (Thomas) and Daniel Laus (Sherri); and brother of Amerigo Laus, Thelma Ruggiero, Rosie Brooke and the late Daniel Laus, Jennie Gillette and Anthony Laus. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at CHARLES W. TRENZ FUNERAL HOME INC., 11110 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Susanna Church.
